Creating out of Necessity & an Explanation of My Absence From Blogland!

My husband keeps pointing out to me that it has been a month since my last blog post!  Trust me, I have been dying to work on some projects to share with my blog buddies, but there honestly hasn't been a moment to spare in the last, busy, hectic and exciting 30 days!

When I finally got around to painting this old toolbox, I knew it would be the perfect makeover to show while explaining my extended absence from Blogland! You see, I brought this old $1 yard sale find in from the garage out of necessity. As foster parents, we are required to have all medication in a locked box. Yes, I said Foster Parents! That's what we've been up to for the past month...classes, paperwork, visits, moving our boys into a shared room with bunk beds and painting a PINK nursery!

Just 11 days ago we brought home a beautiful, happy, sweet 5 month old baby girl!  At the moment, she is napping, allowing me time to write up this post for you all!

I can't share too many details right now about her, but I can tell you that we all adore her, and we hope and pray that we get to be her forever home!

(Tool box painted with Annie Sloan's Antoinette, cross in Old White and completed with Dark Wax).

Thank you for your sweet visit today!  Sorry to cut this short, but time is at a premium in our house these days and I must get a load of laundry started!  I do finally feel like things are falling into place.  Having a baby in the house again has been quite an adjustment but we are doing remarkebly well and I am hopeful that we've gotten into enough of a routine that I can find some time here and there to create and share!
Best Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda

  1. Oh so wonderful to see and her from you. What a blessing you have and can't wait to hear more. Please know that I will be praying for you and your family and especially that SWEET little one. I have actually only recently come back to blogging myself. We had found out we were going to be expecting our 6th baby and unfortunately I suffer with an EXTREME form of morning sickness called Hyperemesis. I wrote a brief post about it here http://shoprubyjean.com/2012/08/so-what-happened/ We did find out were having a little girl.. So I am thinking I need to be on the hunt for a tool box... That is SUPER SUPER cute!!!
Have a wonderful day and Blessed day!!

  3. Hey, Amanda! I love that tool box. it's super cute! What an exciting time for you and your family. Foster parents are some of the greatest people I've ever met. My Dad is a social worker and over the years our family has made many wonderful friends with families that brought boys, mostly in their teen years into their homes. It's a special calling and a gift, like social work. :) Wishing you all the best and hoping everything continues to go smoothly. P.S. I'm very happy that bay girl has you! Love, Jamie

  9. Wow congratulations. As an adoptive parent, I can totally understand the process that you have been through and are involved in right now. I accepted my daughter when she was 1 but she came to our home when she was almost 4. That was a long wait but so so so worth it. I love her as if she were my own and then some. Can't wait to hear more. Praying and believing in faith that she will be a permanent part of your family. Karen from Ambler, Pennsylvania

I absolutely LOVE what you did with this tool box!!! My daughter is a new doctor and she loves vintage. I have been looking for a vintage doctors bag with no luck. This would be a wonderful alternative and very special because it is handmade (altered).
